This month, our engineering team has created a custom design for a TE connector. The part has dimensions of 29.2mm in width, 45.98mm in length, and 18.3mm in height. Considering the maximum tolerances, the part height is approximately 18.8mm, which is quite deep. Based on the part dimensions and a suitable design that meets EIA standards, we have placed this part into a carrier tape with a width of 72mm and a pitch of 44mm. The tape KO is 19.3mm, and we are using a tape thickness of 0.5mm.
To accommodate such a large and deep pocket, we are also adding ribs around the pocket walls to enhance its strength. Additionally, we have designed blocks and complex topography to ensure that the parts sit securely in the pocket. As shown, we have placed a component in the pocket to clearly demonstrate how the part is oriented within it. This design was completed in just one hour.
